1.- “Kim” is a novel of adventure written by Kipling in 1901. The main character is Kimball O'Hara (Kim), and eleven years old boy who dresses and lives as a native beggar in the streets of Lahore but who, in fact, is the orphaned son of an Irish soldier. He is smart and Mahbub Ali, a horse trader and one of the native operatives of the British secret service, orders him some little services from time to time.

http://www.yareah.com/images/bandera1_p.gifRudyard Kipling’s main characters of his two most famous novels: “The Jungle Book” (1893-1894) and “Kim” (1896) were children: poor naughty children, lost in adverse circumstances (a jungle and a populous Indian city) trying to survive.

Childhood has been an important subject from the beginning of the novelistic genre. In Spain, in the 16th and 17th century, poor naughty children (rogues) were the source of inspiration for different authors, maybe Francisco de Quevedo (Madrid, 1580- Villanueva de los Infantes, 1645) is the most renowned.
