GREEN - VERDE

David Webb

EnglishYears ago, during an interview in the Spanish TV, Jorge Luis Borges spoke about his blindness. It was hereditary and he started to lose the sight being a teenager, little by little, until his entire world was… blue. Yes, blue and never black as everybody used to think –he said-. Therefore I live in a wonderful, peaceful, blue world; faraway of black shadows.

Solange Sierra is today honouring Borges’ favourite colour: BLUE. However and since all of the colours are beautiful, other artists are going to show their favourite ones. David Webb prefers GREEN.

I took this photo one day while I was walking through the garden, just after a shower of rain. Everything is so lush and beautiful after the rain - the perfect time to get a close-up of what seems to be the Creator's favourite colour - Green.
This photo basically uses a diagonal variation of the "rule of thirds," as the illuminated, lighter weeds occupy about two thirds of the picture, and the darker, shaded weeds the other third. Notice how the sharp distinction between light and dark even within the lighter section itself helps to break up the monotony of an all-green picture. A small depth of field draws the focus away from the detail in the leaves, and instead places emphasis on the distinct chromatic texture.
