EnglishFor me, art, in the widest meaning of the word, is an immensely important part of my life. I have worked at art for thirty five years, most of that time being my main profession. Long working days in my studio and on “duty” 24/7 open for ideas that come. As well as working at my own art, I enjoy looking at art done by other artists. I am interested in the history of art, how art served as a documentary and a decorative form, in the early centuries, as well as the history of art until now.

Painting gives me the freedom to express my feelings. I go to the initiative experience. Set my mind and the motive comes to me. Most often the experiences come from my closest vicinity in nature, and memories from childhood or even some objects that affect me. I feel the best while painting, when there is no strain and the technique takes over. Then my experiments become successful and I glance the inner beauty. Once I know how, I have a strong desire to move ahead and go further.
Various art forms like literature and music are giving factors for me as an artist. I find it inspiring to read a good book when resting from my work. I enjoy music and I sing in choirs. Often when I am working at my easel, I am deeply aware of the connection between music and painting. Keeping my color tones clean, expressing in a sort of ecstasy, what I am saying and at the same time finding myself in deep relation with my project. The never ending desire to do better today than yesterday is not far away.
In the latter years I am much more optimistic and relaxed than I was earlier in my carrier. I am positive towards myself, which has a big effect on what I am doing. I am more myself, more free. Art inspires creative thinking, both for me as an artist and as an enjoyer of art. To me art is nothing but pleasure.
