GoToErlaAxels'Gallery / GaleríadeErlaAxels For me, art, in the widest meaning of the word, is an immensely important part of my life. I have worked at art for thirty five years, most of that time being my main profession. Long working days in my studio and on “duty” 24/7 open for ideas that come. As well as working at my own art, I enjoy looking at art done by other artists. I am interested in the history of art, how art served as a documentary and a decorative form, in the early centuries, as well as the history of art until now.

Isabel del Río Our gardens are full of marvelous trees which have been venerated during centuries. In Yareah magazine/January, we started to know and see their poetic secrets by analyzing Robert Graves’ famous essay “The White Goddess
- A Historical Grammar of Poetic Myth” and what he calls “The alphabet of trees” in Celtic Druidic culture (letters were known by the name of a tree which started with its same initial. For example, “duir” -our oak- was also the letter “D” and “saille” –our willow- was the letter “S”). We explained that this alphabet had five vowels and thirteen consonants and the reasons why these last ones formed a magic seasonal calendar based on trees and “Mother Nature” which was secretly used by Druids for centuries, even after Christian irruption... they had to hidden their magic words and spells of their enemies to prevent their possible attacks, a belief shared by old Greek and Roman religions. |

1.- When and why did you decide to start to draw and paint? I didn't really start for a long time - until I was in University. I started playing around on the computer, drawing teddy bears out of circles in Paint Shop Pro.
2.- What is your technique? I start and end on the computer. Now I pretty much only work in Photoshop (CS3 right now). So, I do a rough sketch first. Getting the shapes right.
