-Why do you love designing amigurumi crochet patterns?
I have two little girls (Oli's 6 and Martina's 2), and a husband, and a dog! So I really don't have much time (or patience) for long projects. I like amigurumi because they're fast to make, and a great way of using up leftover yarn, plus they're super cute.

-Is it difficult?
Not really, al you need to know is simple crochet, and simple increasing and decreasing. With a little practice anyone can make them.

-Is it good for health?
I think so, it's very calming to just sit around with a hook some yarn and think about toys!

-Where have you learnt this technique?
I learned to crochet when I was 6 or 7. A neighbor taught me back in Montevideo, Uruguay, where I'm from.

-Can you explain us something about the origins of this Japanese technique?
I guess crocheters have been making toys for a long while. The particular thing about amigurumi is that they're crocheted in simple crochet and all in the round, without joining rounds. They usually have big heads and eyes and are super kawaii!

-This issue of Yareah magazine is dedicated to the Romanticism, can you show us your most Romantic work and explain us its meaning?
I think pretty much all my amigurumi are romantic, in the sense that they're not too "rational", and help me use my imagination without any established rules or realism... I've made crocheted eggs with eyes and smiles, and little houses and happy worms in their apple homes :). But my little Valentine Bears would be the most romantic looking pair in the most widely use of the word. I made them for Valentine's day a couple of years ago.

A new Yareah was born on February: we are searching for writers and collaborators.
Una nueva Yareah nació en Febrero: buscamos escritores y colaboradores.

We have redesigned the site and we have added new categories like opinions and movies. Now, you can directly send us your news. You just need to register, to answer the e-mail and... to publish your own news, texts or photos!
We are receiving articles, poems, reviews and short fiction and we would like to invite you to participate in this new moment for Yareah: the arts and literature magazine.

At the end of the month, we will select the most interesting pieces to make the pdf-magazine. On April, it will be titled: To Be or not to Be.
We hope you enjoy our new site and you participate in this new idea for the future.
