Chicago Trolley and Double Decker Co. celebrates the magic of the holiday season with the “Holiday Lights Tour,” a Chicago tradition for all ages that explores the city’s most spectacular winter sights. Passengers are swept away by special Holiday Trolleys, each festively named, to the Magnificent Mile, State Street, the Loop, and other iconic landmarks that will all be glowing with glittering lights. For the first time ever, the Holiday Lights Tour will offer complimentary treats at Sprinkles Cupcakes for each passenger aboard the tour. All Holiday Lights Tours begin and end at the John Hancock Plaza (875 N. Michigan Avenue).
“Chicago is home to iconic sights, beautiful views and a Midwestern charm that makes the holiday season a truly special time to be in the city,” said President of Chicago Trolley and Double Decker Co. Jim Schwartz. “The Holiday Lights Tour is a perfect way to not only see beautiful landmarks glimmering along the back drop of a snow covered city, but also an opportunity to discover or rediscover the city’s greatest holiday traditions.”
Passengers embark on a lightly narrated 2 ½ hour tour showcasing the twinkling lights of The Magnificent Mile, the iconic Macy’s Holiday Windows, historic State Street, River North, Gold Coast, and Lincoln Park. Adding to the festive cheer, the Holiday Lights Tour has added a new stop at 50 E. Walton St., between Michigan and Rush, visiting Sprinkles Cupcakes’ only Midwest retail location. Sprinkles’ handcrafted, delicious confections will be brought on every Holiday Trolley and served at no additional charge to each passenger.
The tour also makes stops at two of Chicago’s favorite holiday spectacles—the Christkindlmarket and Lincoln Park Zoo Lights. Located in Daley Plaza the Christkindlmarket offers riders the opportunity to shop a traditional German American holiday market with distinctive crafts, artistic glass ornaments, delicious sweets and holiday food and drinks. At the second stop, passengers can explore the elaborate Lincoln Park Zoo Lights strung throughout the entire zoo.
