Outlander season 2 is based on Diana Gabaldon’s second book ‘Dragonfly in Amber’ and it’s expected to hit the small screen in 2016. Firstly, the season will be set in France, but the second half of the season will take us back to Scotland. Photos at Pollok Country Park in Glasgow are showing a fighting scene between Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies), Jamie’s old nemesis who tortured him on season 1.
Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will be in France a cause of the Jacobite uprising, trying to prevent the Battle of Culloden of 1746 where between 1,500 and 2,000 Jacobites were killed or wounded, and where the culture of the Highlands was destroyed. For example, the wearing of tartan was banned except as a uniform for officers and soldiers in the British Army.
Tragic moments for Jamie and Claire. Because Jamie will also be dealing with the traumatic incident he suffered in the hands of Black Jack in Outlander season 1, and because Claire is pregnant. Fortunately, Caitriona Balfe has confirmed in numerous reports that she and Jamie will only grow stronger this season. Good news!
Remember that Irish actress Caitriona Balfe said she felt an instant connection with Sam Heughan ‘s character Jamie!
Author Diana Gabaldon also said that Claire “has her own destiny that she can fulfil with Jamie” that she could not really do with her husband Frank Randall.
