Aidan Turner is in Cornwall filming Poldark season 2. He plays the role as Captain Ross Poldark and is so sexy and friendly that we can confuse the actor with the character. At least in the books, the character has a dark side. Will BBC show it in the upcoming episodes? How will fans react?
In the books by Winston Graham, published from 1945 to 1953 and continued from 1973 to 2002, Ross Poldark is a gloomy and introspective character, who went to war to escape from justice. Then and from the very beginning, he was not the angel that Aidan Turner’s smile is suggesting.
The following lines are about Poldark novels. If you don’t want to know the plot, don’t keep reading. Spoiler alert!
After his return to Cornwall, Poldark’s life is a misery. He is broken and his fiancée Elizabeth is going to marry another man, his cousin Francis. Of course and after some years, Ross rebuild his life with Demelza, who is the true positive character of this turbulent story. They will have five children but… Ross will betray her and in my opinion (tell me yours), she doesn’t deserve it!
How does he betray her? In a very unethical and violent way which involves Elizabeth.
Will BBC show these events in the upcoming episodes? Currently, everybody loves Ross (or maybe people love Aidan Turner) but fans could change their mind seeing violence and treason.
Anyway, the TV show can change facts from the novels. We’ll see the result!
