Exquisite Handstitched Photographs by Patricia Casey at Janet Clayton Gallery, , Paddington NSW. 09-27 September, 2015.
Patricia prints her photographs onto cotton, georgette or watercolour paper. She then spends up to 40 hours and sometimes more, on each individual image to handstitch with tiny threaded loops, back stitching and fine hand needle work, using cotton, silk and metallic thread.
This Series, Murmur, explores memory in almost a tactile way – although sold in editions of 5, each photograph is really a one-off artwork. The artist works from a template, but each is individually hand sewn.
Patricia has also been invited by renowned photographic expert and consultant, Alasdair Foster (also former Director of ACP) to represent Australia this year in the 2015 PhotoVisa International Photography Festival in Russia. She is off in October as a special Guest of the Festival and part of an international exhibition as part of the Festival, also exploring memory.
