Outlander season 2. French actor Lionel Lingelser will play as King Louis XV of France in the second season of Outlander (Starz). He is known for Bernard au hasard (2011), Désobéir (Aristides de Sousa Mendes) (2008) and Big House (2015). What will be his relation with Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe?
No doubt, one of the most thrilling moments of Outlander season 2 will be the meeting between Jamie Fraser and King Louis XV of France. What will happen? Remember that Jamie and Claire fled to France to avoid Black Jack Randall, and to stop the battle of Culloden that will finish with the way of life of the Highlands.
King Louis XV of France has a negative reputation. Jerome Blum says he was “a perpetual adolescent called to do a man’s job,” and remember that the French Revolution broke out 15 years after his death. He was spendthrift, womanizer and capricious. In fact, his decisions weakened the treasury, and discredited the absolute monarchy.
How will the king behave in front of a beautiful woman as Claire? How can Jamie react? Of course, he will help Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Jacobite rebellion because France was the eternal enemy of England, but one thing is politics and other personal relationships, and this elegant but frivolous king will probably disappoint a tough warrior as Jamie.
Then, will the king be a help for Jamie and Claire or a new problem? What do you think? What do you expect from Outlander season 2? Tell us your opinion now!
Outlander season 2 is expected to return in the spring. It will be based on Dragonfly in Amber, the second book in Gabaldon’s series.
