Where is Outlander Star Sam Heughan? Emmy Nominations 2015 Are Disappointing!

Outlander Starz was one of the most amazing and interesting TV shows during 2015. It had (and has) millions of followers worldwide, a great cast, and its plot was absolutely thrilling and different. It’s based on the historical time travel Outlander series of novels by Diana Gabaldon. However, the show was not nominated by any 2015 Emmy award. In the category of Outstanding Drama Series they have nominated “Better Call Saul” (AMC), “Downton Abbey” (PBS), “Game Of Thrones” (HBO), “Homeland” (Showtime), “House Of Cards” (Netflix), “Mad Men” (AMC), “Orange Is The New Black” (Netflix).

Of course, they are good shows but since Outlander was not nominated in the category of Outstanding Drama Series, at least actor Sam Heughan playing the role as Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser deserved a nomination. His performance was great! He was able to play irony, drama, love, braveness, tenderness and… How about Jamie Fraser’s brutal torture by Black Jack? Who other actor could have played this difficult moment? Sam Heughan should have been nominated. In my opinion, Emmy Nominations 2015 Are Disappointing!

Emmy Nominations 2015: Official list for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series: Kyle Chandler, “Bloodline”; Jeff Daniels, “The Newsroom”; Jon Hamm, “Mad Men”; Bob Odenkirk, “Better Call Saul”; Liev Schreiber, “Ray Donovan”; and Kevin Spacey, “House of Cards.”

Of course, we could also speak about Caitriona Balfe playing the role as Claire Claire Beauchamp Randall/Fraser. I love her too. However, this is the official list:

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series: Claire Danes, “Homeland”, Viola Davis, “How to Get Away With Murder”, Taraji P. Henson, “Empire”, Tatiana Maslany, “Orphan Black”, Elisabeth Moss, “Mad Men”, and Robin Wright, “House of Cards.”

I think the nominations are a joke. Outlander, Sam, Cait and Tobias ALL deserved nominations. Some of the noms are simply a joke compared to what Outlander delivered. It’s just the same old, same old. I can’t imagine what the voters are thinking. They disgust me and make the Emmys meaningless.

I agee with Jo Ann. Nominations are a joke. Caitriona Balfe should have been nominated for her amazing performance as Claire and Tobias Menzies as Black Jack gave the BEST performance on TV this year. The bravery and rawness of Tobias Menzies’ and Sam Heughan’s performances in the final two episodes alone deserved recognition from the Television Academy. Instead I see we get the same old tired Nominees. I mean really, how many Emmys does Clare Danes have already? We know she’s a good actress but give someone else a freaking chance. With the Exception of Tatiana Maslani, who richly deserves a nomination, its the same old cast of characters. I for one will not be watching the Emmys this year. It is clearly evident that it is more of a popularity contest then it is about quality programming and talent.

Not true, Bear McCreary won for his AMAZING Outlander music!

And they probably had to squeeze the nomination out of their cold, dead hands!

  • Back in the days when I was involved in public policy, we frequently faced the need to educate folks for two or three years before we could get a decent discussion and vote on important issues. IMO, it’s the same with entertainment awards. The fans pick out their favorites in year one; if the production or cast are outside NYC or LA, or horrors, even based in UK, it may take US critics another year to get interested. If Hollywood already knows the actors/producers/etc., it can go a little faster. But OUTLANDER is an outsider seeking respect, and it will take time. I am confident the quality of the story and the skill of the actors will eventually be recognized in years 2 and 3 if STARZ keeps supporting the show. But we fans also have to keep the story alive on social media, entertainment media, etc. And give our favorite actors some breathing room so they keep their amazing energy focused on their amazing performances!

I am shocked that Outlander didn’t get nominated for everything in every category. What a joke as I read some of the nominations. Empire? What a disgrace. Mad Men–all they did in that series was drink, and have sex.
Orange is the New Black, just couldn’t watch this series at all. Disappointed to say the least. What a joke these Emmys are. No way How to Get Away with Murder and Empire should have been even mentioned.

    I won’t be watching the Emmy’s now.

Pathetic! I can’t believe the crap that gets nominated. Outlander is head and shoulders above ANYTHING in the theatres and on TV. Jamie Dornan who is absolutely brilliant in the British crime drama, The Fall, was snubbed too! @ Jean Logan: In this day of nano second technology, you’d think humans would actually be able to “evolve” and evaluate faster. Nah ah! We’re as dead-headed sometimes as the knuckle-draggers. Trouble with our society is that we’re lacking in depth and character. If we had to gauge a fine example of a human being with someone like any of the Kardashians, I’m not sure we’d ever achieve enlightenment and evolution as a species.
