Outlander Season 2. The Battle of Culloden was tragic for Scotland. It was the final confrontation of the Jacobite rising of 1745 and the result was very favorable for the English army. Between 1,500 and 2,000 Jacobites were killed in the battle while English government losses were lighter, with about 50 dead and 300 wounded. Afterwards, brutal efforts were taken to integrate the Highlands into the Kingdom of Great Britain. For example, civil penalties were introduced to weaken Gaelic culture and attack the Scottish clan system.
Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) knows this facts because she comes from the future, from 1945. Now, she is in love with a Scottish warrior, Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), her husband.
Precisely, Outlander season 2 opens with Jamie and Claire Fraser trying to prevent the extinction of Scottish life. Thus, they arrive in France determined to infiltrate Prince Charles Stuart’s Jacobite rebellion and stop the battle of Culloden. There, they will meet Jared, Jamie’s cousin, who works as a local wine merchant, and will be introduced to the rich French society, in Paris and in Versailles.
On Saturday, we could see Jamie and Claire arriving in France. Sam is still wounded but he seems optimistic beside his wife. The image and behind-the-scenes video were screened Saturday at Comic-Con San Diego.
What do you think? What do you expect from Outlander season 2? The show will be aired in 2016.
