What do you think about Michael Phelps? He is one of the most important sportsman of the history, and an example for future generations. Don’t you think so?
He was born on June 30, 1985 in the Rodgers Forge neighborhood of Towson, Maryland, located just north of Baltimore. Phelps began swimming at the age of seven, because of the influence of his sisters as well as to provide him with an outlet for his energy. He had been diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). But from then, he has been an icon of personal growth.
In fact, Michael Fred Phelps II is the most decorated Olympian of all time, with a total of 22 medals. What does he think about personal objectives?
“I think goals should never be easy, they should force you to work, even if they are uncomfortable at the time.” Michael Phelps.
Phelps is also a philanthropic man. After the 2008 Olympics, Phelps used his $1 million Speedo bonus to set up the Michael Phelps Foundation. His foundation focuses on growing the sport of swimming and promoting healthier lifestyles.
“I want to be able to look back and say, ‘I’ve done everything I can, and I was successful.’ I don’t want to look back and say I should have done this or that. I’d like to change things for the younger generation of swimmers coming along.” Michael Phelps.
In 2010, the Michael Phelps Foundation, the Michael Phelps Swim School and KidsHealth.org developed and nationally piloted the “im” program for Boys & Girls Clubmembers. The Foundation has since developed two other programs, Level Field Fund-Swimming and Caps-for-a-Cause. The Foundation’s largest event is its annual fundraiser, the Michael Phelps Foundation Golf Classic.
