Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur is an upcoming epic adventure film directed by Guy Ritchie. The movie stars Charlie Hunnam as Arthur and Idris Elba as Merlin. The movie is scheduled for a July 22, 2016 release. It’s the first installment of a planned six films series.

Charlie Hunnam is worldwide known for his role as Jackson “Jax” Teller in the FX drama series Sons of Anarchy (2008–14). Also, he plays as Nathan Maloney in the Channel 4 drama Queer as Folk (1999–2000), Lloyd Haythe in the Fox comedy series Undeclared (2001–02), the title role in Nicholas Nickleby (2002), Pete Dunham in Green Street (2005), and Raleigh Becket in Pacific Rim (2013). Idris Elba is known for playing as drug lord and aspiring businessman Russell “Stringer” Bell in the HBO series The Wire, Detective John Luther in the BBC One series Luther, and Nelson Mandela in the biographical film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. A great actor, he has been nominated for three Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film, winning one, as well as earning four Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

Merlin is a legendary figure best known as the wizard featured in Arthurian legend.
Historically, the character first appears in Geoffrey of Monmouth’s Historia Regum Britanniae, written c. 1136.
Merlin was born of a mortal woman, sired by a demon from whom Merlin inherits his supernatural powers and abilities.
Merlin engineers the birth of Arthur through magic and intrigue.
Later, Merlin serve as the king’s advisor until he is bewitched and imprisoned by the Lady of the Lake.
He is allegedly buried in the Broceliande forest, near Paimpont in Brittany.
