Paris, Berlin or Lisbon…the price of the flight will often determine the destination of a city trip.

However, savvy tourists should also remember that transfer costs also have a significant impact on the travel budget.

idealo examined 16 popular travel destinations, airport transfer prices and times, comparing a total of 19 airports and researched the expected travel times and train, underground, tram, bus or taxi fares.

The research, which found that the cheapest transfer was between Milan Linate and the city centre costing just 1 GPB, has been collated and published in an infographic.

The most connection by public transport was in Rome, costing 10 GBP by train to the city centre.
