Oxford venue invests in cloud

London, 20th May 2015 – Priava, the leading cloud-based venue management software company, has announced that The King’s Centre (www.thekingscentre.co.uk) based in Oxford has selected the organisation’s cloud based venue and event management booking system to manage its growing venue business.

Formerly the home of Oxford Instruments, in 2002 the property now known as The King’s Centre was bought by Oxfordshire Community Churches (www.occ.org.uk/) to serve as a base for their church and community work. Since that time the property and registered charity has been continually developed and upgraded and now offers Oxford’s largest multipurpose events facility within the city of Oxford.

General Manager at The King’s Centre Karina Hettler commented on what prompted the decision to choose Priava, “As our business has expanded over the last several years we wanted a system that was more in tune with the charity’s goals along with helping to support our future growth.”

Karina continued, “We reviewed a number of solutions on the market but Priava stood out as being the only one to provide all the functionality we were looking for at an affordable price. Through its reporting we hope to be able to measure the usage of spaces, what packages work and also detect any weak-spots, so we can continually track and improve the level of service we are able to provide.”

Over recent years, The King’s Centre Oxford has hosted a wide variety of events for local, national and international organisations, businesses and charities. Its two large halls, which can seat up to 1,000 have hosted talks by leading figures, including the Prime Minister, the Shadow Chancellor, local MPs, the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of the County, and the Lord Mayor of Oxford.

The driving force behind The King’s Centre business is a community of Churches which is committed to serving the social and physical well-being of the residents of Oxfordshire and beyond. The King’s Centre is therefore used extensively for various types of community outreach, and profits from the Centre go towards funding programmes for local families, the local youth, and the homeless.

As the cricket season draws to a close, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) can report a surge in popularity for guests seeking a full day of luxury hospitality at Lord’s during a Test Match in 2016. In the Home of Cricket’s most iconic venues – the Captains’ Lounge and Marylebone Suite – hospitality packages which included a hearty breakfast, sumptuous four-course lunch and luxury afternoon tea, sold out quickly for the first three days of the England v Sri Lanka and England v Pakistan Investec Test Matches. Private Boxes with the best views of the action for up to 18 guests also sold out fast for the same days. MCC revealed a sharp increase in revenue for its 2016 Sri Lanka Test Match hospitality packages compared with 2014 when the team last played England at Lord’s. Revenues for hospitality were up by nearly 30% over the same period in 2014 whilst private box sale revenues were up by a healthy 60%. Nick Kenton, MCC Head of Sales, Meetings & Events and Hospitality, said: “2016 has been a fantastic year for enjoying a day of cricket whilst experiencing the very best food, drink and hospitality that Lord’s has to offer. “This year’s sales figures show that hospitality packages at Lord’s were in huge demand and continue to be a key part of the summer sporting calendar.” Lord’s also expects high demand for its new hospitality packages, to be released this autumn for 2017 matches. These include England v South Africa from 6th to 10th July and England v West Indies from 7th to 11th September. Packages for the England v Ireland Royal London One-Day International on 7th May 2017 are also expected to sell out in record time.
