After Arrow and The Flash, based on DC Comics superheroes, it comes Supergirl, and amazing heroine. Women can be happy now!
Actress Melissa Benoist plays the role as Kara Zor-El / Kara Danvers. Great!
Kara Zor-El is Superman’s cousin. Being a child, she escaped from the planet Krypton. The Danvers raised her in the Earth and grew in the shadow of her sister Alex. Now, she works as an assistant of Cat Grant, director of a medium. She also hires James Olsen, who managed to get the best shots of Superman.
After years of hiding and controlling her powers, Kara will have to face them when Hank Henshaw, leader of a secret agency, chooses her to help protect citizens. From here, she will need her powers and to adjust them with her personal life.
Supergirl was officially picked up on May 6, 2015 after receiving a series commitment in September 2014, and will debut in November 2015 on CBS.
The series is developed by writer/producers Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg. It is based on the DC Comics character Supergirl, who was created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino.
The costume for Supergirl was created by Colleen Atwood, who also designed the costumes for Arrow and The Flash. Are you surprised? Melissa Benoist said that she is aware of the costume worn by Kara in the comics books, and expressed that the “micro-mini hemline” of the skirt could be “a little daunting […] but that’s good. I like being pushed.”
Promotional photos of Benoist wearing Atwood’s design were released on March 6, 2015. Don’t you like this street-style action of today?
In February 2015, it was announced that Andrew Kreisberg, co-creator of Arrow and The Flash, had joined the series as a writer and executive producer.
