Charlie Hunnam will play as King Arthur in the upcoming movie ‘Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur.’ It is scheduled for a July 22, 2016 release.
As always, the beginning of the film focus on the young Arthur, who runs the back passages of Londonium with his crew, not knowing his royal lineage until he grabs Excalibur. Why is Excalibur so important? Today, the meaning of this legendary sword.
Because in the mythology which surrounds Camelot, everybody and everything is a metaphor. Characters are representing a sin (Guinevere is lust) or a virtue (Merlin is wisdom), and any object is a symbol and has a meaning. How about Excalibur?
Excalibur is justice and justice is the truth. No one should govern without the truth in hand. And only one true king can pull Excalibur from darkness (from the rock where it remains dormant).
The truth is divine and belongs to the Lady of the Lake, who represents the Mother Nature. She is the ancient Celtic goddess, who watches over the interests of our world. She will always protect Arthur, the ideal king. And she is trying to make justice in the divided old Britain.
Yes, King Arthur needs Excalibur or he only would be a dictator. He is trying to create a kind of democracy in the early Middle Ages. The king would possess the executive power, the Knights of the Roundtable the legislative, and justice would reign on our Earth. Beautiful, isn’t it?
In the 21st century, we are still waiting for Excalibur!
Enjoy your day, Yareah friends. Art is everywhere and up to you!
