Vikings Season 3. The Real Story Of Bjorn Ironside. What Will He Do In The Future?

Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig)

Bjorn Lothbrok or Bjorn Ironside was a main character in Vikings Season 3 but I expect to see him much more in Vikings Season 4. Why? Today, nine things you should know about this legendary hero.

1.- Bjorn was the son of king Ragnar Lodbrok and Lagertha according to The Tale of Ragnar’s Sons.

2.- Ragnar and Lagertha are not historical people but they found some evidence of Bjorn’s existence. In the 18th century, a barrow on the island of Munso was claimed by antiquarians to be Bjorn Ironside’s grave.

3.- Also, The Annales Bertiniani and the Chronicon Fontanellense tell of a Viking leader named “Berno” who pillaged on the Seine in the 850s.

4.- Anyway, he was a Viking chieftain and naval commander, who conducted many raids in France in a continuation of the tradition initiated by their father Ragnar Lothbrok.

5.- He also sacked the Spanish coast, Gibraltar and Pisa in Italy. Will we see this adventures in Vikings Season 4?

6.- In Italy, in the town of Luna, it happened some very interesting adventure. To gain entry, he sent messengers to the bishop to say that he had died and wished to be buried on consecrated ground within their church. He was brought into the chapel and leaping from his coffin, he promptly opened the gates. Do you remember Vikings Season 3 finale? Ragnar Lothbrok used the same trick.

7.- His last raid was in Gibraltar. But he was defeated and returned to Scandinavia where he lived as a rich man.

8.- Bjorn Ironside is said to have been the first ruler of the Munso dynasty.

9.- In Vikings Bjorn is played as a young boy by actor Nathan O’Toole and as a young man by Alexander Ludwig.

Then, what will be Bjorn’s future? Tell us your opinion now!

As the cricket season draws to a close, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) can report a surge in popularity for guests seeking a full day of luxury hospitality at Lord’s during a Test Match in 2016. In the Home of Cricket’s most iconic venues – the Captains’ Lounge and Marylebone Suite – hospitality packages which included a hearty breakfast, sumptuous four-course lunch and luxury afternoon tea, sold out quickly for the first three days of the England v Sri Lanka and England v Pakistan Investec Test Matches. Private Boxes with the best views of the action for up to 18 guests also sold out fast for the same days. MCC revealed a sharp increase in revenue for its 2016 Sri Lanka Test Match hospitality packages compared with 2014 when the team last played England at Lord’s. Revenues for hospitality were up by nearly 30% over the same period in 2014 whilst private box sale revenues were up by a healthy 60%. Nick Kenton, MCC Head of Sales, Meetings & Events and Hospitality, said: “2016 has been a fantastic year for enjoying a day of cricket whilst experiencing the very best food, drink and hospitality that Lord’s has to offer. “This year’s sales figures show that hospitality packages at Lord’s were in huge demand and continue to be a key part of the summer sporting calendar.” Lord’s also expects high demand for its new hospitality packages, to be released this autumn for 2017 matches. These include England v South Africa from 6th to 10th July and England v West Indies from 7th to 11th September. Packages for the England v Ireland Royal London One-Day International on 7th May 2017 are also expected to sell out in record time. Details of all hospitality options at Lord’s can be found on its website
