Vikings Season 3 Finale And Aslaug Role. Will She Save Ragnar Lothbrok?

Vikings Season 3. According to the 13th century ‘Tale of Ragnar Lothbrok’ and the romantic poem ‘The Fostering of Aslaug’ by William Morris, Princess Aslaug (actress Alyssa Sutherland) was the prettiest girl of Norway. However, she had a sad childhood in spite of her noble origins. Her adult life was both unhappy and full of betrayals. Her end was sad. Then, who is Aslaug?

As Ragnar Lothbrok (actor Travis Fimmel), there are no evidence of her real existence. She was the daughter of Sigurd and the shieldmaiden Brynhildr, who died soon. She was raised by Brynhildr’s foster father Heimer and her life was in risk constantly. She had to be hidden in the case of a harp, live with a couple of greedy peasants, who hide her beauty and called her ‘Crow’, and never had friends or boyfriends until she met Ragnar.

Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland)

Her meeting with Ragnar is very well told in the Vikings TV show. She was bathing and she was discovered by some of the men of the legendary king Ragnar Lothbrok, who told him about Aslaug’s beauty. Ragnar then sent for her, but in order to test her wits, he commanded her to arrive neither dressed nor undressed, neither hungry nor full and neither alone nor in company. Aslaug passed the tests, and Ragnar proposed marriage to her. She will give him four sons: Ivar the Boneless, Hvitserk, Ragnvald the Mountain-High and Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye.

However in Vikings TV series, Aslaug makes love with a ‘peculiar’ walker in order to save her week son Ivar ‘boneless’ while in the popular stories is only Ragnar who cheated her with other women. But of course, she will be faithful until the end (it’s clear that the Middle Ages like submissive women). When the King of Northumbria threw Ragnar into a snake pit, he was protected by an enchanted shirt that Aslaug had made. It was only when this shirt had been removed that the snakes could bite Ragnar and kill him.

Will Ragnar die on the finale? The series will follow the tradition in this point too and Aslaug will have an important role in this last episode? She is in Kattegat and not in Paris, but her magic powers could change Ragnar’s destiny. What do you think? Tell us your opinion now!

I think I will never watch the show again if Ragnar Lothbrok dies. Point blank

Ragnar will die in season 4, its pretty much already prewritten by Hirst. Sadly it will also be Vikings last season.
