Fun In Burnsville. 9th Annual TRAC Paint Out.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 16 and prepare for a fun day in Burnsville. For the 9th year in a row, the Toe River Arts Council and the Blue Ridge Fine Arts Guild sponsor the Plein Air Paint Out. Anyone who paints or draws is invited to participate. Following an early morning registration ($30 per artist; free for ages 5-18), artists will walk into an outdoor arena of two-dimensional possibilities in and around Burnsville. And folks who aren’t participating will appear from business and homes to watch them. Brushes and pencils in hand, artists will spend the entire day transforming blank “slates” into depictions of our rural community.
As the sun follows the slope of the day, the artists will return to hang and tag their work. This year’s juror, John Mac Kah, is a well known in Asheville for his plein air painting and teaching. Following the judging, first, second, third place, and student winners will be announced during a dessert reception beginning at 6:30pm that evening.
Juried artwork from this year’s Paint Out will be on display at the Burnsville Gallery (102 W. Main Street) from May 16 through June 20; many available for sale.
If you draw, paint, enjoy the outdoors, then May 16 is the date and Burnsville the place to be. Bring an umbrella because rain or shine, the TRAC Plein Air Paint Out is happening.
