Decorated British decathlete Daley Thompson is set to open a fitness facility in London and hopes the move will inspire people to change their lifestyles. UK personal trainers 4D Fitness have commented on Thompson’s plan.
As a man who held the Olympic, World, Commonwealth and European decathlon titles at the same time looking back was not in his nature – he always set about improving and starting afresh. Thompson has his own new challenge away from track and field by launching a new gym in England’s capital.
Thompson is working alongside Steve Gutteridge and Gavin Sunshine according to the Huffington Post – who claim the trio have many years training experience between them.
They aim to get more Londoners active. Understandably, the double Olympic champion was excited about opening a new gym for members of the public.
He said: “There is some great modern science within the industry but I don’t think you can beat getting your fitness the old-fashioned way. You earn it. Our mission is to inspire people to change their lives.”
DaleyFitness will include some of Thompson’s old training methods which helped him dominate a competition over 10 events with the javelin and 100 metre sprint two components of the gruelling test of ability as well as endurance.
The gym will contain leather medicine balls, climbing ropes, an old-fashioned horse vault box and wall bars in its training room. A spokesperson for 4D Fitness, a British fitness company, has released the following statement in response to these plans. They said: “We are always pleased to see former athletes making an effort to keep fit after their careers and what Daley Thompson is planning can only benefit the community by making Londoners healthier. Making time for regular activity should be a must in people’s weekly routine.
“At 4D Fitness we have personal trainers throughout London and the UK with programs tailored to every person’s needs. Our fully qualified personal trainers are adept at helping members achieve their objectives whether that’s gaining muscle, losing weight or training for a specialist event.
