splinters the skies
rumbles seal my eyes
drowns my sight

it is then
that i see it
…the purity of nothingness
…omnipotent nothingness
…and then the deity of nothingness
…unfolds in my sightless vision

it is then
that i see it
…the presence of all
…all that is unfurls in indigo swirls
…swirling twirling further and further
…reaching out reaching up rupturing my deaf ears

it is then
that i hear it
…the sounds of indigo waves
…sweeping into the seas of what if
…spreading into the stark sphere of reality
…cascading into clusters that filter light to dark

…indigo petals unfolding further and further and further
…lapping against the shores of what never was

it is then
that i hear it
…the bang the big bang
…waves of purity of nothingness
…as virgin white bleeds into indigo swirls
…swirls that surround the me that does not exist

it is then
that i feel it

…the non-existent me that now swims in what will be
…swims with arms that are not arms legs that are not legs
…swimming in a sea of memories that are forgot in the roar of reaching waves

that rip apart the valley of sin
that shred the skin of lust
that sear the flesh of her
that brand her kind
that begat
the seed

so it was

innocence was birthed
in indigo swirls
that captured
the waiting

the virgin mary

thanks ever so much for your always fabulous presentations of my poetry! you’re the best YAREAH!

Jenean C Gilstrap

Since childhood, Ms. Gilstrap has had a love of words-of writing and other arts. An individualist, she chooses not to follow any pre-conceived pattern for the outlay of these words – rather, she allows them the freedom to forge their own path as they make their way from her heart to pen to paper. Her art work involves both photography and mixed media on large canvasses. She is a weekly featured poet in Yareah Magazine where her works have appeared for more than a year. Her piece The Granite God was the winning poem in Painted Bride Quarterly Sidebar #12 [2012]. Her work has been featured in performance poetry theatrical productions in Louisiana and her short story, Retribution, published in the Helicon Literary Magazine there. She and her gypsywomanworld blog are included as character/story elements in Ghost Key, the fictional work of award-winning author Trish MacGregor. Her first volume of poetry [2013], words unspoken, is available in both paperback and on kindle at amazon. She currently divides her time between her home in Louisiana and the east coast as she completes her second volume of poetry to be published in 2013.
