‘Castle’ Star Stana Katic Loves Author Leo Tolstoy. Great Choice!
Castle Star Stana Katic is always surprising on her Twitter. She loves arts, travelling, and literature. Now, it seems she is interested in Russian author Leo Tolstoy. Good choice! What do you know about him? He is generally considered one of the greatest novelists of all time.
Count Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy (1828 – 1910), also known as Leo Tolstoy, was a Russian novelist, short story writer, essayist, playwright and philosopher. In fact, he was a master of realistic fiction.
“A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite.” Leo Tolstoy.
Leo Tolstoy achieved literary acclaim soon, in his 20s, with his semi-autobiographical trilogy of books, Childhood, Boyhood, and Youth (1852–1856) and Sevastopol Sketches (1855), based on his experiences in the Crimean War. However, he is best known for two long novels, War and Peace (1869) and Anna Karenina (1877).
“All violence consists in some people forcing others, under threat of suffering or death, to do what they do not want to do.” Leo Tolstoy.
Tolstoy died in 1910, at the age of 82. Renouncing his aristocratic lifestyle, he had finally gathered the nerve to separate from his wife, and left home in the middle of winter at night. Thus, he died of pneumonia at Astapovo train station, after a day rail journey south.

“In all history there is no war which was not hatched by the governments, the governments alone, independent of the interests of the people, to whom war is always pernicious even when successful.” Leo Tolstoy.
