Grammys 2015. Beck won the 2015 Grammy for album of the year. But #whoisbeck. Today, ten things you should know about this singer.

1.- Beck Hansen is Bek David Campbell. He was born on July 8, 1970, in Los Angeles, California.

2.- Beck discovered hip hop and folk music in his teens and began to perform at coffeehouses in Los Angeles.

3.- In 1989, he moved to New York City and became involved in the anti-folk movement.

4.- He rose to fame in 90s with his experimental style. Do you remember his breakthrough single ‘Loser’?

5.- In 1998, Beck released the stripped-down ‘Mutations’, and in 1999, the funk-infused ‘Midnite Vultures.’

6.- However, the downcast, acoustic ‘Sea Change’ (2002) showcased a more serious Beck.

7.- Other successes include: ‘The Information’ (2006); and ‘Modern Guilt’ (2008).

8.- In February 2014, Beck released the album ‘Morning Phase’. It won Album of the Year at the 57th Grammy Awards Ceremony on February 8, 2015.

9.- Totally, he has released 12 studio albums, as well as several non-album singles and a book of sheet music.

10.- He creates musical collages: funk, soul, hip hop, alternative rock, country, and psychedelia.

“I enjoy the collaboration. I always envied people in bands who got to have that interaction. I’ve done so many albums where I’ve been in the studio for 14 hours a day for six months just trying to come up with things on my own. It’s a nice change helping other people with their music and not being all about what I’m trying to do myself.” Beck.
