Sydney Fun. At Night by Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre On Friday 30 January 2015. It’s on again!
It’s on again! The very popular evening event AT NIGHT put on by Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre will be held on Friday 30 January. If you haven’t yet experienced this magical evening this is your chance to enjoy a night of art, music, food and markets – everyone is welcome!
From 6pm to 9pm you can take part in a night that celebrates the current major exhibition in the Regional Gallery Glazed & Confused: Ceramics in Contemporary Art Practice. Enjoy the buzz, as Hazelhurst comes alight with a range of creative activities and things to see and do.
In the Regional Gallery you can join a ‘quick’ ten minute tour of the current exhibition and gain some unique insights to the artists who did the residency at the Ceramics Design Studio Gymea, Sydney TAFE led by Lynda Draper, and how it impacted their practice.
At 7pm enjoy Getting Fired Up Powered by PechaKucha – short illustrated talks exploring the themes of the exhibition with presenters including artists Madeleine Preston, Chris Dolman and Paul Williams.
The evening will once again feature the fresh sound of live music, this time by Kirrakamere, plus a special suitcase Wild Ones Market with plenty of unique gifts to browse and purchase, from a highly curated selection of contemporary Australian design wares.
If you’re feeling creative then be inspired by Marc Etherington’s artwork featuring characters from Masters of the Universe and model your favourite childhood toy – or that toy you never had – in plasticine. Or, combine found objects with air-dry clay to create a unique sculpture then visit the gallery to see how many of the artists incorporated found objects into their work.
Once your masterpieces are complete then sit back in the Hazelhurst Café and mingle with friends over a cocktail and tapas relaxing to the live music.
For a bit of fun be sure to stop by the Dazed & Confused photo booth, throw on some 70’s inspired props and capture the moment with a polaroid picture to keep.
The night will conclude once again with a lucky door prize draw, a $100 voucher to spend in the Hazelhurst Café.
