Dreweatts celebrate Australia Day with Australian wine tasting event and auction.
The auction will be held at Bloomsbury House, London, on Monday 26th January 2015 in association with Bid for Wine.
London – Auctioneering duo Dreweatts and Bid for Wine have teamed up with wine workshop and kitchen 28-50 to bring wine novices and aficionados the perfect Australia Day celebration. 28-50 will host a pre-sale tasting of various fine Australian wines on Thursday 22nd January 2015 ahead of the auction on Monday 26th January 2015. Chris Hambleton, Head of Dreweatts’ Wine department will be on hand at 28-50 to lead guests through some of the greatest Australian wines of the last decade.
Bid for Wine’s managing director Lionel Nierop said; “There is great demand for fine Australian wine at present and the UK is one of the country’s major markets. Traditionally the auction scene is very quiet early in the New Year but with Australia Day falling on 26th January we thought it would be appropriate to celebrate the link with a sale championing the best that the country has had to offer from the past five decades.”
Highlights of the sale include a single bottle of the legendary Penfold’s Grange Hermitage 1971 [Lot 662 est. £300-600] and two bottles of Henschke’s ‘exceptional’ Hill of Grace Shiraz 1990 [Lot 551 est. £500-600]. Both producers are well represented across the board too with substantial parcels of Henschke Cyril Cabernet Sauvignon and single bin wines from Penfold’s.
Bidders should also not miss multiple vintages of Clarendon Hills’ Astralis and Torbreck’s Run Rig as well as benchmark Cabernet blends from Mount Mary, Moss Wood, Cullen and Pierro.
