The Bridgeport Art Center (BAC), 1200 W. 35th St. announces its 3rd Annual Juried Art Competition awarding $3,000 in prizes to Chicago and vicinity artists! To enter, artists should visit BAC website for competition guidelines and application. All required documents must be submitted by January 31, 2015. Submissions can include painting (oil, acrylic, and watercolor), drawings, graphics, photography, photo-based work, sculptural work, 3D work, and mixed media. “Last year hundreds of Chicago area artists entered the competition, reflecting the diverse and fascinating overview of contemporary art in Chicago,” said Lelde Kalmite, BAC curator.

The winners will be announced at BAC on February 28, 2015. Awards are Best of Show, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, Best Three-Dimensional Work, Best Representational Work, and Best Photo or Photo-Based Work. The jurors are Monika Wulfers and Amanda Williams, well known Chicago artists and teachers.

Located in the burgeoning Bridgeport art community, BAC has offered gallery space for artists since 2000. Currently, over 40 artists and fashion designers occupy space in the historic 500,000 sq. ft. former Spiegel Catalogue Warehouse.
