TV Shows. Hell On Wheels Season 5. While reading the article, listen to Bob Dylan: “I Shall Be Released”: From Episode 413: Hell on Wheels: Further West.
Cullen Bohannon (actor Anson Mount) is at Salt Lake City now. He is looking for his family and he has started to work for the Central Pacific Railroad (CPRR).
The Central Pacific is the former name of the railroad network built between California and Utah in The United States. It formed part of the “First Transcontinental Railroad” in North America.
CPRR is now part of the Union Pacific Railroad, although in ‘Hell On Wheels’ Season 4 finale, both companies were competing fiercely. Cullen Bohannon was working for the Union Pacific and Mr. Durant during seasons 1, 2, 3, and 4. It seems that he will work Central Pacific and Collis Potter Huntington in ‘Hell On Wheels’ Season 5.
Mr. Durant is based on a real person as well as Collis Huntington. Huntington (October 22, 1821 – August 13, 1900) was one of the Big Four of western railroading (along with Leland Stanford, Mark Hopkins, and Charles Crocker).
Afterwards, in 1873 Huntington helped lead and develop other major interstate lines such as the Southern Pacific Railroad and the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway (C&O).
In the Central Pacific, construction crews comprised 12,000 Chinese emigrant workers by 1868. In fact, they constituted eighty percent of the entire work force. Now, Bohannon is among them.
They laid the first rails in 1863.
The “Golden spike”, connecting the western railroad to the Union Pacific Railroad at Promontory, Utah, was hammered on May 10, 1869.
Enjoy your day, Yareah friends. Art is everywhere and up to you!
**Hell On Wheels will be returning for a fifth season. Like it has done with its other signature series, including Mad Men and Breaking Bad, AMC will split the final season of Hell On Wheels into two, with seven episodes airing in 2015 and seven in 2016.
