‘Hell On Wheels’ Season 4. The West is no longer the West. Cullen Bohannon, our hero, our Southern gentleman, must save Ruth, the religious woman.
Hell on Wheels season 4 episode 11 titled ‘Bleeding Kansas’ is absolutely thrilling and pretty bloody. The beginning was shocking. Reverend Cole (actor Tom Noonan) appears executing some slave owners. Everybody asks: ‘Wasn’t he dead?’ Of course, it was a flashback. Ruth, his daughter, was remembering her appalling childhood, next to that irrational father, who killed Whites or saved Indians according to his crazy approach.
In some way, Ruth has just made what her father did. She has shot at Sydney Snow to avenge the death of Ezra, her adopted son.
In Cheyenne, everybody likes Ruth, and everybody agrees with her decision. No doubt, Sydney Snow deserved to die. However, the West is no longer the West, and Governor Campbell does not want people to take the law into their own hands. If Sydney dies, Ruth will be judged!
From Cullen Bohannon to Mr. Durant, everyone in Cheyenne hates Sydney, but all of them are going to try to save his life. In fact, what they are trying is to save the life of Ruth. The governor is willing to convict her of murder and hanged her!
Attempts are vain, Sydney dies, and we see that glorious end: Cullen Bohannon accompanies Ruth to jail.
Is she repented? ‘I’m fine,’ Ruth says. ‘The only best moment after shooting Sydney, it was when I heard he was dead.’
