New York events. ‘Bach in Madrid’ by Jose del Rio in Adelante Theatre at 6:30 pm. A great documentary about a milestone in Spanish cinema. The film has been selected at NYC Indie Film Festival.
Yesterday, on October 17 2014, at Sonnet Theatre, we had the opportunity to see the acclaimed documentary by Jose del Rio. Superb!
Argument tells the extreme effort of El Coro de la Capilla Real de Madrid, its musicians and singers (about 600 people), and its conductor, Oscar Gershensohn, to represent the complete works of sacred music by Johann Sebastian Bach in the Spanish capital: cantatas, passions, Christmas oratorio, Magnificat and masses.
Nine years ago, the objective was difficult but not impossible. However, after the Spanish economic crisis, and the incompetence of its institutions (especially cultural), this objective turned next to impossible.
Jose del Rio and Tirabeque productions reflect on ‘Bach in Madrid’ this initiatory path. The documentary is epic, thrilling, nobody knows how musicians and their project can end. Because the documentary focus on their lives, their hopes, and the strength of some people, who thanks to their love for music can touch the sky or fall into hell.
I love the atmosphere. Madrid is beautiful! Baroque churches, ancient streets, queues of people in the rain… The show must go on! And the show is beyond the theatre, because this documentary wants to reflect the soul of a city whose religion is the hope.
José del Rio has done a masterpiece on an improbable event. I really enjoyed ‘Bach in Madrid.’
If you have the chance, don’t miss it. It’s worth! New York top#1 events!!!
