Hell on Wheels season 4 episode 10 ‘Return to Hell’ is magic and tragic. Cullen Bohannon has traveled a long journey from the days of the Civil War. In season 1, he had an only objective: avenge his wife and son, killed by Confederate soldiers, some of whom were hidden in the Central Pacific Railroad.
However, building the first transcontinental railroad across the United States is an initiatory experience, and Cullen Bohannon forgot revenge while the dream of a different future was growing in him. The past is nothing, the future is all!

The Central Pacific Railroad has given him a new hope. But recent events force Bohannon to remember, because Sydney has set fire to Ruth’s church. He is an evil man and blocked the door to trap the workers, who took refuge in the church. Most of the men are able to escape, except for those shot at by Sidney.
But Ruth cannot find Ezra, and Mickey mentions the hiding place under the floorboards of the church. There, Cullen Bohannon and Ruth find the boy dead. Horrible moment! Bohannon’s boy was killed in a fire too!
Bohannon is really upset and Sidney returns to challenge an unarmed Cullen to a duel. Must Cullen Bohannon face a new revenge? As they approach each other, Ruth gets another man’s gun and shoots Sidney Snow twice. She had told Bohannon that her wish is for Sidney to be returned to Hell and his suffering be “deep and eternal”. What is Bohannon wish?
Ezra was like a new son for Cullen Bohannon, but he has to forgive now. This is our advice. Revenge does not bring anything good, and he deserves a new life.
