Ancient artist Fede Galizia was born in Milan in 1578 and died there fifty-two years later. She left an innovative production and an equally creative biography as a single, independent woman.
Like many artists of her time, she learned to paint with her father in the family atelier. At twelve, according to Lomazzo, she stood by her precession painting jewelry and prints. Important ability to make her way as a portraitist.
But what gives her a place in art history are her still life paintings. She rose them to the rank of genus. This one of 1602 was the first Still Life to be signed in history. What do you think? Isn’t it a marvelous painting? Tell us your opinion!
