Great and great! Hell on Wheels season 4 episode 2 is absolutely amazing. Not only because Cullen Bohannon has got to escape from the Mormon Fort and is in Cheyenne again, but because an interesting conflict has just started between Mr Durant and provisional governor John Campbell (actor Jake Weber).
It was necessary to finish Bohannon confinement in the boring Mormon Fort. Bohannon has started to be a tough man again (and we love that tough man). Firstly, facing The Swede (now fake Bishop Joseph Dutson) and afterwards, an Indian warrior.
The confrontation he had with the fake bishop has been exciting and intelligent. We have seen a new transformation of the Swede. We’ll see in upcoming episodes who is he during Hell on Wheels season 4. Anyway, it’s thrilling! The psycho Swede was another character who must return to Cheyenne.
Now, Bohannon is arriving at Cheyenne with his wife and son, and he is received by Psalms. What a great actor is Anson Mount (Cullen Bohannon)! The episode finishes with his expressive face understanding Elam Ferguson, his old friend, is dead. Anson Mount performance solves a little the silly end of a character so important as Elam (we miss him!)
However, the conflict between Mr Durant and sadistic governor Campbell is still more stimulating. Civilization has just come to Cheyenne with the new governor and is even worse than that world of prostitutes, gamblers and thugs. Governor imposes its cruel law and steals claiming taxing. We’ll see how Bohannon fits this situation.
Eva, our sad Eva, seems to have recovered her old force. That is also positive, Hell on Wheels season 4 needs women with personality, and he is top 1.
Ruth and Louise Ellison, the journalist, have also appeared in the episode. We hope they have a bigger role during the season.
Definitely, episode 1 was a little disappointed but episode 2 is superb.
