TV series for summer 2014. Hell on Wheels season 4, consisting of 13 episodes, has begun shooting near Okotoks and it will premiere in the late summer. Fans are excited about Hell on Wheels heroes (Cullen Bohannon and Elam Ferguson) but also about Hell on Wheels villains. Of course, Top#1 is The Swede (actor Christopher Heyerdahl) and maybe it’s a good time to remember his biography.

TV series for summer 2014: The Swede, then things you should know:

His true name is Thor Gundersen and he is from Norwegian. However, people of Hell on Wheels were unable to distinguish between a Norwegian and a Swede. Thus, everybody calls him ‘The Swede.’

His gun its called “Beauty.” And in fact, The Swede seems to be more interested in guns than in beautiful women. We do not know their sexual orientation. Once, he told to Thomas Durant that he was married, but his wife left him for a gypsy. Maybe! because everything is possible speaking about the Swede.

He is insane since The Civil War. He served on the Union side. But he was imprisoned at the infamous Confederate camp for Union POW’s, Andersonville Prison. A horrible place full of starving people who even practiced cannibalism. One night, The Swede woke up to find another prisoner trying to eat his arm. He kill him and it’s somewhat implied that The Swede survived by eating the flesh of his aggressor. From then, he has no moral.

At Hell on Wheels, he works as security chief of Durant following the construction of the First Transcontinental Railroad across the United States.

From the beginning, he is suspicious about Cullen Bohannon, our hero, and accuses him of the death of Daniel Johnson, the railroad’s foreman. He even incarcerates Bohannon in a freight car, but Bohannon escapes and during Hell on Wheels season 1, The Swede works to weaken Cullen Bohannon power as the new foreman. They are great enemies.

Rivalry between Cullen Bohannon and The Swede goes on increasing. It seems that everything is permitted, but both end badly. People from Hell on Wheels tar and feather The Swede and runs him out of town while Bohannon appears on a wanted poster.

The Swede returns to Hell on Wheels season 2 as the equivalent of a custodian for the rundown community. He develops an insane friendly relationship with Reverend Nathaniel Cole and the Sioux. In fact, the Sioux think he is the White Spirit so he could get them to attack Hell on Wheels.

It all ends disastrously. Hell on Wheels razed, and Lily Bell killed by The Swede.

Cullen Bohannon will be on the point of hanging The Swede from a bridge. But he jumps of the bridge while Bohannon secures the rope and he survives. Yes, they hate each other!

After a lot of tricks, The Swede (now Andersen) is the chief of a Mormon community.
