TV series for summer. Hell on Wheels season 4, consisting of 13 episodes, has begun shooting near Okotoks in the Province of Alberta, Canada, approximately 18 km south of the City of Calgary.
Fans are excited but lots of details remain secretive. In fact, John Wirth, the showrunner for AMC’s Hell on Wheels, is repeating once and again: “I can tell you people will come and people will go.”
Anyway, we know that Hell on Wheels season 4 is co-produced by Calgary’s Nomadic Pictures and stars Anson Mount (as Cullen Bohannon, a former Confederate soldier), Colm Meaney (as Thomas ‘Doc’ Durant, an American financier and railroad promoter), and Common (as Elam Ferguson, a former slave and Bohannon best friend.)
This last point about Common is really important. Because in the last episode of season 3, Elam Ferguson was almost dead, and we didn’t know if he will recover. Anyway, we do not know how long he will live since he is seriously wounded by a bear attack.
Also, we know that high profile directors will also be on hand in season 4. Including Neil LaBute (In the Company of Men, Nurse Betty), Rod Lurie (The Contender), and Clark Johnson (The Walking Dead and Homeland).
There will be some new faces, including actor Jake Weber, and MacKenzie Porter.
John Wirth hopes to bring a little more humor to the series. “One of the challenges of keeping the show fresh is to bring the show back that we all know and love and want to see but change it up, recreate it, reinvent it for the new season,” Wirth says. “This season will have a very distinctive feel unto itself. It will be as distinct from Season 3 as Season 3 was from the first two seasons. You’ll know you’re watching Hell on Wheels, but it will have a bit of a different feel.”
TV series for summer 2014: The fourth season of Hell on Wheels will premiere in the late summer. But AMC has not set a specific date.
