Tommen Baratheon in Game of Thrones

Tommen Baratheon in Game of Thrones

Prince Tommen Baratheon is officially the youngest child of King Robert Baratheon and Queen Cersei Lannister. His siblings are Prince Joffrey and Princess Myrcella and the same as them, his true father is Jaime Lannister, his mother’s brother. He opens the TV series as a sweet child of seven years, very different of his wicked brother Joffrey. He goes with his royal family to Winterfell following the death of Lord Jon Arryn. There, he knows the Stark family. Precisely, Lord Eddard Stark will be named Hand of the King. Again in King’s Landing and after the death of King Robert. His terrible brother Joffrey will be the new king and his mother the Regent. Immediately, they order to arrest Lord Eddard by treason. Tommen is present when Eddard is arrested in the throne room. His childhood is difficult, the capital is insecure, and his Lannister family very conflicted. His uncle, Tyrion Lannister, new Hand of the King, has the child in custody against the wishes of his mother, Queen Cersei. She just gets her son after the battle of Blackwater, and the fall of Tyrion. He is also present when his brother, King Joffrey, is poisoned, but these events do not affect his character. He’s good, but too submissive.

Once king, and according to the books by R.R.Martin, is completely mastered by his mother since his grandfather Tywin Lannister is dead. But after marrying Margaery Tyrell, things change. He becomes interested in swords and wants to be trained by Ser Loras Tyrell. This is the first disagreement with his mother, then there will be others. Queen Cersei will be charged for treason and adultery. She is punished to walk naked through the streets of the capital. The new Lord Regent Kevan Lannister, his great uncle, thinks that King Tommen is a good boy, but maybe things have changed a cause of these tragic experiences. We’ll see!

You might want to put a spoiler alert in there somewhere…

    • But Steve, these events appear in the books. Game of Thrones TV series is not following the books strictly. We’ll see!

      • Brandon

The show never changes anything major from the books.

        • I hope they change, Brandon. I really like Tywin. The actor is great!

  • Steve

I know – I’ve read the books. Pretty unlikely Tywin stays alive in the show.

In the Home of Cricket’s most iconic venues – the Captains’ Lounge and Marylebone Suite – hospitality packages which included a hearty breakfast, sumptuous four-course lunch and luxury afternoon tea, sold out quickly for the first three days of the England v Sri Lanka and England v Pakistan Investec Test Matches. Private Boxes with the best views of the action for up to 18 guests also sold out fast for the same days.
