The Most Famous Dogs in History: Barry, Lassie, Laika, Rin Tin Tin, Greyfriars Bobby, Bo Obama, Capitan, Fala and Lady.

Barry is the most beloved St Bernard dog of the history. Born in 1800, he saved more than 40 people in the mountains. In fact, he has a monument near Paris.

Lassie, a talented Collie and star in the movie “Lassie Come Home.” A film starring a very young Elizabeth Taylor.Pero returned. Afterwards, in 1954, CBS launched its series Lassie, and the loyal Collie would become one of the most beloved animals around the world.



Laika was a Soviet space dog. She became the first living creature to orbit the Earth in 1957.

Rin Tin Tin was a male German Shepherd dog rescued from a World War I battlefield by Lee Duncan, an American soldier. Duncan trained Rin Tin Tin and he starred more than 20 movies. Rin Tin Tin was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Greyfriars Bobby. He was a Skye Terrier, who became known in Edinburgh in the nineteenth century. He stant by the grave of his owner for 14 years.

Bo. The Portuguese Water Dog owned by Obama family is still most famous for being mentioned in President Barack Obama’s 2008 acceptance speech.

Capitan. In 2012, ABC News reported that a German shepherd had returned to its owner grave every day for six years. The dog goes home for a short time every day to visit his family, but then returns to the grave by evening.

Fala. President Franklin D. Roosevelt Scottish terrier traveled with him and was frequently covered by the media. A statue of Fala is featured at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, the only presidential pet so honored.

Lady. This cute baby Pomeranian owned by Margaret Hays survived the sinking of the Titanic. “Because they assumed it was a baby, it survived,” said Titanic expert J. Joseph Edgette.
