African Film Market sees the light. ETISAL latest news!

ETISAL African Film Market sees the light in third edition Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF). 18-24 March, 2014. Great news!

The Board of Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) announced that during its third edition (18-24 March, 2014) opening next Tuesday , practical steps will be done to create a market for African Cinema through ETISAL initiative with the participation of African producers and filmmakers in addition to a number of directors of African festival worldwide and also digital and satellite platforms.

Azza al-Husseini , director of the festival, said that during the last edition, the attendees recommended a support to rising African filmmakers by establishing a film market to help the production , promotion and distribution of new films and also recommended the use of modern technology and the establishment of a database and a digital library of African films .

Azza al-Husseini also added that ETSAL will set a fund worth of 100 thousand dollars with LAFF contributing 40 000 dollars to support the production of 20 short films during the year 2014 , and to achieve the rest of the recommendations the festival will build partnerships with other African film within the European or the American or the African continents, as well production and distribution companies and satellite channels.

Finally, she pointed out that the market will add a program called STEP to create a meeting space between funders and innovators, in order to support five films in various stages of productions by young filmmakers across the continent or those who are diaspora.
