Oklahoma art events. Norman OK. Firehouse Art Center Announces Healing Studio 2014 Exhibition. March 7 – March 29, 2014.
Students from the Healing Studio at the Norman Firehouse Art Center will exhibit their artwork in the FAC Gallery March 7 – March 29, 2014. The Firehouse invites the community to attend this opening where they can meet the inspirational and uplifting student artists and instructors who take part in the weekly Healing Studio. The opening reception will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14th during the monthly 2nd Friday Circuit of Art.
The Healing Studio program is intended to nurture and provide an outlet for the creative expressions of individuals with varying degrees of cognitive, physical, and learning challenges. The program’s weekly sessions are conducted in a serene, supportive atmosphere with projects that help students learn to link visual art expression to their personal experiences and emotions in a way that is communicative, healing, and confidence building. The exhibition is an excellent opportunity to celebrate these students, while providing gallery attendees with insight into the Healing Studio program.
The Healing Studio Program is sponsored by the Norman Arts Council, the Oklahoma Arts Council and generous individual donations.
The Firehouse Art Center is located at 444 South Flood Avenue, in Norman. Hours are from 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday – Friday, and 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
