The Walking Dead. Zombies are a fantasy and people like fantasies but from Dracula to Moby-Dick, fictional fantasies have a meaning. Then, who are the zombies?

Based on zombies topic, The Walking Dead is an American horror TV series developed by Frank Darabont and it’s the great success of the year (same in 2013, 2012, 2011 and 2010). There is a comic book series of the same name written by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard.

The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln as sheriff’s deputy Rick Grimes, who awakens from a coma to find a post-apocalyptic world dominated by flesh-eating zombies. Blood and horror during five seasons! And Rick Grimes trying to survive while he looks for his family and encounters many other survivors along the way. Great!

Yes, great! A great plot and cast! But I don’t understand such an incredible success all around the world, from America to Europe and beyond… And since 2010! Then, this morning, after hearing some people on the subway raving about the series (once again), I’ve started to think about the reasons of this general emotion. Why zombies? Who are the zombies? What do the zombies mean?

Zombies are a fantasy and people like fantasies but from Dracula to Moby-Dick, literary fantasies have a meaning. Then, who are the zombies? These beings without reason, who persecute and harass us all of the time, whom we do not understand. They take our water and food, invade our homes, and steal our joy. They always want more and we know perfectly well their intentions.

But why? Why are we so familiar with their strange intentions? In fact, because they are not so strange. In fact, because we are suffering a similar harassment every day.

Who are these beings who steal our joy, money and food? Easy answer, they are those who invented our daily taxes, banking, insurance, interest, and pensions that break. Yes, they are our zombies. Do you know their names? Is it a secret? Perhaps the last secret!

After thinking about our reality, it is logical that we like to fight zombies through a series of TV: The Walking Dead.

As the cricket season draws to a close, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) can report a surge in popularity for guests seeking a full day of luxury hospitality at Lord’s during a Test Match in 2016. In the Home of Cricket’s most iconic venues – the Captains’ Lounge and Marylebone Suite – hospitality packages which included a hearty breakfast, sumptuous four-course lunch and luxury afternoon tea, sold out quickly for the first three days of the England v Sri Lanka and England v Pakistan Investec Test Matches. Private Boxes with the best views of the action for up to 18 guests also sold out fast for the same days. MCC revealed a sharp increase in revenue for its 2016 Sri Lanka Test Match hospitality packages compared with 2014 when the team last played England at Lord’s. Revenues for hospitality were up by nearly 30% over the same period in 2014 whilst private box sale revenues were up by a healthy 60%. Nick Kenton, MCC Head of Sales, Meetings & Events and Hospitality, said: “2016 has been a fantastic year for enjoying a day of cricket whilst experiencing the very best food, drink and hospitality that Lord’s has to offer. “This year’s sales figures show that hospitality packages at Lord’s were in huge demand and continue to be a key part of the summer sporting calendar.” Lord’s also expects high demand for its new hospitality packages, to be released this autumn for 2017 matches. These include England v South Africa from 6th to 10th July and England v West Indies from 7th to 11th September. Packages for the England v Ireland Royal London One-Day International on 7th May 2017 are also expected to sell out in record time.
