Retail giant High and Mighty reveals the results of its nationwide survey investigating the attitudes towards height and hugging.
Over 1000 male and female respondents (of all heights and sizes) participated in the survey, which aimed to spread the joy of hugging and the positive effects it has on recipients.
HEIGHT MAKES THE BEST HUGS
95.8% of women would prefer to hug a taller man and 24.5% of men would prefer to hug taller people. 50% of men agreed that men should give more hugs to one another!
HUGGING – GET YOUR FIVE A DAY!
85.7% of men like to hug with 81.9% of respondents receiving up to five hugs a day. 84.1% of women get their five (hugs) a day.
MEN WANT TO GET MORE HUGS THAN WOMEN
39.4% of men want to receive more than 10 hugs a day opposed to only 7.9% of women wanting more than 10. (11.7% of men currently get over 10 hugs daily and only 9.4% of women get over 10)
HUGS PROMOTE HAPPINESS
Both men and women believe that hugs promote happiness with 77.9% of men and 88.4% of women agreeing.
David Beckham stole the show as the most huggable man on the female charts, followed by Ryan Gosling and Denzel Washington.
The men’s top wanna-hug woman was Kelly Brook, followed by pint sized Kylie Minogue. 2/3rds of Destiny’s Child also made the hug list, accompanied by HRM The Queen and the Cookie Monster(!?)
The Handshake Hug (Man-Hug) was the most favoured hugging technique for men with 34.7% of men opting for this technique. 53% of men’s hugs last between 1-5 seconds and 29% lasting up to 10 seconds!
The most popular women’s hugging technique was the two arms maneuver, with 77.6% wanting two arm action. 19.7% of women preferred the ‘hug and kiss technique’ and 43.2% of women’s hugs lasted five seconds.
IT STARTED WITH A HUG…..
82% of men and 88.6% of women have had relationships that started with a hug.
