Spend to Save – Now is the time to change the grievance culture
•Mediation is the answer to the new tribunal changes
•A Resolution Policy to replace a grievance culture
•Free webinar for all HR and Senior Resolution Policy Makers
Today sees the launch of an exciting new campaign from The TCM Group- Spend to Save. Spend to Save is about encouraging an investment in a resolution culture. A resolution culture which delivers real savings in terms of the costs, time and misery associated with traditional dispute resolution mechanisms.
From 6 April 2014, any employee looking to bring an employment tribunal (ET) claim against their employer will have to lodge the details with Acas for potential conciliation before they can progress to ET (Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act 2013). Where the conciliation officer concludes that a settlement is not possible, or where the prescribed period ends without reaching a settlement, the claimant will be issued with a certificate permitting him or her to issue proceedings.
At TCM we think that this period of fixed term conciliation is too little too late. More action needs to be taken now by UK employers to encourage early resolution within the workplace.
Training managers, HR professionals and others to spot and resolve disputes creates a new way of working that delivers real benefits. Training internal mediators offers the capacity to nip issues in the bud and get everyone concerned back to work. In order to save time, money and psychological damage, it is in the interest of all parties to resolve disputes before they get to this point.
David Liddle, CEO of the TCM Group stated today,“Mediators help the parties in a dispute to find a constructive remedy. Investing in a resolution culture is an ongoing journey both for individuals and organisations as a whole. With this in mind, TCM’s Model Resolution Policy was launched in May 2013. The purpose of the Model Resolution Policy is to help organisations, to resolve disputes at an early stage – without the need for formal or legal action.”
The policy centres around mediation and includes a comprehensive dispute triage checklist along with practical resolution toolkits for HR professionals, managers and employees.
Free copies of the policy are available from the TCM Group by calling 0800 294 9787 or emailing email@example.com.
On the 14th of February, TCM will deliver a free live webinar entitled ‘Introduction to the TCM Model Resolution Policy’, 1.45pm – 2.45pm. The webinar will be hosted by David Liddle, CEO of TCM and author of the TCM Model Resolution Policy, and Elaine Hepburn, Senior Resolution Consultant at The TCM Group.
David and Elaine will discuss the policy and present practical tips and tools for embedding aspects of the policy into existing grievance policies. Delegates will be able to take part in polls, ask questions to David and Elaine and listen to case studies. Places can be booked here.
