Il Milione Bar & Ristorante in the heart of Hong Kong

Italian bar and restaurant Il Milione will be serving an exclusive tasting menu this Valentine’s Day. Couples can celebrate the most romantic night of the year at the Michelin Starred eatery with an impressive array of vintage cocktails, Italian wines, and authentic Umbrian delicacies.

Located in a landlocked region flanked by Tuscany and Marche, Umbria is known for its black truffle, cured meats and olive oil. Chef Marco Gubbiotti, a proud ambassador of Umbrian cuisine, brings the best flavours of his homeland to the heart of Hong Kong, in the ground floor of Hutchison House in Central. Furnished with gold and black tones and soft yellow lighting, Il Milione sets the scene for a warm, cosy and romantic Umbrian dining experience.

A five course menu will be offered at the price of HK$1288 plus 10% service charge. The savoury journey begins with a lobster carpaccio starter, followed by ricotta ravioli with king crab, a choice of John Dory marinated in fish broth or beef tenderloin with Norcia black truffle, and an Italian favourite Millefoglie and small delectable pastries to end.

“We use a lot of precision and detail in each and every dish. Here at Il Milione, we focus on “finest food”, enjoying each moment of the growing and cooking. Each dish is made with precision, preserving the best flavours and nutrients of the ingredients, turning food into pleasure”, says Chef Marco Gubbiotti, Culinary Director of Il Milione.

Il Milione’s cocktail bar should not be missed on the special night. From a 1930’s style Manhattan to a Negroni Ragazzino, and more than one hundred permutations of gin and tonic alone, renowned bartender Giancarlo Mancino brings sophistication back to the Hong Kong bar scene with his “Perfetto” vintage cocktails. Alternatively, Il Milione’s sommeliers can suggest on the pairing of wine with food for the greatest harmony of sensations.

Named and inspired by the fabled book of travels by Marco Polo, Il Milione is a stylish modern bar with a classic character and innovative theme. Since it’s opening in 2013 last year, it has won the Hong Kong Top 10 Wine Pairing Restaurant Award and Hong Kong Best Restaurant Award.

I Milione Bar & Ristorante. IL MILIONE VALENTINE’S DAY MENU:

Carpaccio di astice: Lobster carpaccio topped with burrata cheese and frozen apples in a cress apple juice.

Ravioli di ricotta: Ravioli filled with ricotta and lemons from Amalfi, cream of broccoli, cherry tomatoes and king crab.

San pietro: Seared John Dory fillet with baba marinated in fish broth and Jerusalem artichokes purée, aromatic herbs, pesto sauce. Or Filetto di manzo: Grilled beef tenderloin with duck liver, black truffle from Norcia and mashed potato with onions.
