Flops. List of major economic failures of 2013: Ender’s Game, The Fifth State, After Earth, White House Down, Bullet to the Head, Paranoia and The Lone Ranger.
Ender’s Game by Gavin Hood (action, science fiction). Starring Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, and Hailee Steinfeld. Budget of 115 million dollars and only grossed 90 at the box office.
The Fifth Estate by Bill Condon (thriller). Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Daniel Brühl, and Carice van Houten. Only grossed 8.5 million dollars at the box office.
After Earth by M. Night Shyamalan (action, science fiction). Starring Jaden Smith, David Denman, and Will Smith. Budget of 110 million dollars and only grossed 245 at the box office. We could think that it is sufficient, but expectations were much higher.
White House Down by Roland Emmerich (thriller). Starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, and Maggie Gyllenhaal. The film had no losses but has been a big disappointment too.
Bullet to the Head by Walter Hill (crime, thriller). Starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Momoa, and Christian Slater. It has generated great economic losses.
Paranoia by Robert Luketic (drama). Starring Liam Hemsworth, Gary Oldman, and Harrison Ford. It seems Harrison Ford is not a trend anymore.
The Lone Ranger by Gore Verbinski (Western). Starring Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, and William Fichtner. Major failure of the year. Disney cannot be happy at all!
Definitely, maybe these movies were high quality, maybe their actors and actresses played their roles fantastic, maybe the plots were interesting or maybe Yareah likes them, but no money means failure in this world (it’s a shame! A great shame!)
“When I was young I thought that money was the most important thing in life; now that I am old I know that it is.” By Oscar Wilde.
Enjoy your day, Yareah friends. Art is everywhere and up to you!
