With Christmas now just four weeks’ away, many Brits are heading to Europe to sample some of the best Christmas markets and a recent report has named Budapest, the best value for a festive breaks. Logo Logo

However with so many to choose from, has chosen its top three markets to visit this year.

Riga, Latvia

Named the second best value market to visit, Riga was the city which first started the tradition of decorating the Christmas Tree. The market opens its doors on 1st December in Dome Square and is filled with locals selling traditional crafts at very low prices. Once you had a chance to sample the market, take in a few of the local sights such as the Freedom Monument and St Peter’s Church.

Prague, Czech Republic

Prague is named the fifth best value market to visit and offers visitors two main markets, one in the Old Town Square and the other in Wenceslas Square. The markets open their doors this week and give visitors the chance to sample some of the local food and buy some of the traditional handicrafts from many of the decorated wooden huts. The centrepiece of the market is the beautiful Christmas Tree which is shipped in from the Krkonose Mountains.

Tallinn, Estonia

The beautiful capital of Estonia is named the eight best value and is without doubt one of the most popular. The main market can be found in Rotermann Square where visitors will find a range of huts selling popular gifts. There is also the chance to sample local food and drink and there is even a mini-zoo for the children. The Christmas market in Tallinn is open now.
