Salutations to the Sun by Leah Lubin

Respect for Diversity

I believe that these difficult times

call for much courage.

Such painful news from SJ State

showed us that we are not there yet.

Respect for diversity, love of each other,

our differences here to create interest,

not shame.

We should be there already:

Accepting, friendly to all.

Show us your best side America.

Our legacy of equality needs to be

protected and cherished and enjoyed.

Yes, we can enjoy each other’s differences.

Believe me.

Let’s create a life full of the subtle and

amazing various versions of what is us all.
