DIsa Allsopp Rings

Primavera is getting into the festive spirit. The Christmas lights have gone up at both our King’s Parade and Magdalene galleries, the Christmas cards are out and we’ve got some lovely handmade decorations for sale. We have also been visited by lots of artists recently, who have brought with them an abundance of beautiful, handmade objects, which will make fantastic and completely unique gifts for Christmas – whether for yourself or for someone else!

Those wandering through Cambridge, looking at the beautiful scenes of the colleges in the winter sun, may have noticed three stunning new ceramic vessels by Tony Laverick in our window display. Tony recently brought in a collection of new works, which start from £135, in black and white porcelain, decorated with a wonderful variety of glazes in different textures and colours. This collection includes his largest work to date, priced at £7,500, which can be seen displayed downstairs in the King’s Parade gallery.

In our collection of glass, we have had two makers on very different ends of the scale. Peter Layton, whose work frequently adorns the gallery window, has a way of capturing movement in his decorative glassworks, particularly in his scent bottles, through his use of colour and pattern. Tim Casey, who has also recently delivered a new collection to Primavera, on the other hand creates very functional glassware. His stylish collection of table ware, including tumblers, jugs, wine and champagne glasses, starts from £21 and are rimmed with a simple band of colour, allowing you to create a stunning matching set of hand-blown work.He also has a range of brightly coloured scent bottles on display, which start from £35.

Our jewellers have also been busy, sending us a great selection of their new work. Disa Allsopp, whose work too can be seen in our window, has sent us a wonderful collection of new rings in gold, including a particular favourite of those working at the gallery – a dazzling deep blue tanzanite set on a thick gold band, priced at £2,700. Malcolm Betts, whose work is also on show at the Bentley dealership on Milton Road, has also provided us with two new diamond rings for the festive season, priced at £5,500 and £6,000 each.

Because we value our loyal visitors, and because we seek to support British artists now and in the future, we are also offering a special Christmas voucher scheme, starting from tomorrow, 23rd November. If you purchase any item before Christmas 2013, you will receive a voucher to put towards a purchase on another day: any item over £150, you will receive a voucher for £10; any item over £500, a voucher for £60; any item over £1000, a voucher for £140 and any purchase over £2000, a voucher for £300. This, we hope, will help us continue to support British artists well into the future, and will allow you the chance to create your own collection of great British art.

We are also getting into the festive spirit by participating in two exciting events this December. On Thursday December 5th, from 6.30pm, we will be displaying a variety of work at Tattersalls in Newmarket, as part of the Bentley ‘By Design’ event, which aims to raise money for EACH. If you would be interested in attending this event, please email us and we will be able to provide you with an invitation, or do come and see us at King’s Parade to collect an invitation. The following Saturday, December 7th, we will be at Hope Street Yard, participating in the Mill Road Winter Fair. This will be a brilliant, lively community event.

Enjoy your day, Yareah friends. Art is everywhere!
