New natural and additive-free food supplements from Iceland launched in the UK

Natural supplements from the sea

Natural supplements from the sea

Hafkalk, a family-owned business in the remote Westfjords of north-western Iceland, is currently launching its range of natural food supplements in the UK. The supplements will be distributed by Global Bounty Ltd and are already available through several vendors across the UK.

Hafkalk produces its food supplements only from the highest-quality ingredients, sourced both locally and outside Iceland. All products feature natural main ingredients from marine sources, supplemented with high-quality vitamins and minerals to maximise the benefits of these unique constituents. All Hafkalk products are GMO and additive-free.

Hafkalk places the emphasis on quality. In 2012 the company was granted TÚN accreditation for its standards of inspection, operating procedures and production methods. TÚN is the leading Icelandic inspection and certification organisation for organic and sustainable production and resource utilisation.

The products now about to be launched are:

Ocean Calcium – A Natural Source of Calcium and Minerals.

Ocean Calcium is a unique certified natural seaweed-derived multimineral complex, produced from sustainably harvested Lithothamnion red algae from the crystalline waters of northwest Iceland. Calcified red algae contains over 30% pure calcium, plus around 2.5% magnesium and 72 other trace minerals, including iodine, boron, cobalt, iron, manganese, zinc and copper. The unique mineral matrix and distinctive physical structure of Lithothamnion red algae boosts bone mineral content and promotes bone integrity.

During its growth phase Lithothamnion red algae absorbs essential minerals from the sea, providing Ocean Calcium with its complex blend of minerals and trace elements. The naturally porous honeycomb structure of the red algae ensures the slow and effective release of calcium, increasing bioavailability and bone absorption and enhancing utilisation by the body.

Ocean Calm – A Naturally Calming Blend of Minerals from the Sea.

Ocean Calm is produced from natural marine magnesium extract and certified natural calcified red algae. Ocean Calm is augmented with vitamin C and pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P-5-P), the active co-enzyme form of vitamin B6, to support the action of the main ingredients. Ocean Calm provides magnesium and calcium in an “enhanced magnesium” ratio of 2:1 to compensate for the prevalent problem of low magnesium in western diets, especially those containing large amounts of processed foods.

The marine magnesium used in Ocean Calm is one of the most natural and effective known sources of magnesium and is extracted from seawater in a slow, fully natural process. The marine magnesium and the natural calcium and minerals from the red algae work in harmony to promote healthier nerve and stress responses.

Ocean Krill – Omega-3 Phospholipids and Natural Antioxidants.

Ocean Krill provides an optimum blend of omega-3 marine fatty acids. Krill oil is rich in phospholipid EPA and DHA, providing clinically proven superior bioefficiency. Phospholipid-bound omega-3 fatty acids are water-dispersible, making them gentler on the stomach and more readily absorbed by the body. And with phospholipid omega-3s, less is more – fewer capsules, easier to digest, and no more fishy burps!

Antarctic krill is also rich in the natural antioxidant astaxanthin, the component that gives the capsules their deep red colour. Recognised for its health-promoting suppression of free radicals, astaxanthin protects the omega-3 fatty acids and keeps Ocean Krill fresh. No additives are necessary to ensure the oil’s long-term stability.
