ALL OF THEM, ANY ONE OF THEM from James Goertel for your Tuesday Poetry reading pleasure.
ALL OF THEM, ANY ONE OF THEM
When all of them
have left you,
hold back the night
with a shrug of only
the shadow of your shoulders
and the palm of one of your small hands
across the lipstick on your lips
that each will say they kissed
though their mouths fail
to breath the two soft, worn syllables
of your name they have forgotten,
for any one of them.
